Ruellia humilis 'Wild Petunia'

Ruellia humilis, also known as wild petunia is a native perennial in the Acanthaceae family. It is an attractive low-growing native that gets between 1' - 2' tall. It has beautiful 5 parted purple flowers that extend from the leaf axils like a long trumpet. The leaves are in opposite arrangements and covered with fuzzy hairs. This plant makes an excellent ground cover in full sun and works in medium to dry soils. The flowers bloom from June through August.
