Anemone cylindrica, also known as Thimbleweed, is a perennial wildflower native to North America. It typically grows to be 1-2 feet tall and has leaves that are basal, long, narrow, deeply lobed, and feathery. They are green in color with a lacy appearance and are arranged in a rosette around the base of the stem.

The flowers of Anemone cylindrica are small, white, and have five petals. They are arranged in clusters on tall, slender spikes that can be up to 12 inches tall. Each flower is about 1/4 inch wide and has a yellow center. The petals are delicate and translucent, and the flowers are held on thin stems that are surrounded by long, feathery leaves. The blooming period is typically from mid to late spring. The flowers are very attractive to pollinators, particularly bees and butterflies, and are a great source of nectar for them. They are also attractive to hummingbirds. The flowers are delicate and will close in overcast weather or in the evening.

Anemone cylindrica prefers well-drained, moist soil and partial shade to full sun. It can tolerate a wide range of soil types but prefers soil that is neutral to slightly acidic. The plant is drought-tolerant and can survive in dry conditions, but it does best in moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate some shade but will bloom more profusely in full sun. The plant prefers cool temperatures and is not tolerant of high humidity.
