Arnoglossum atriplicifolium, also known as Pale Indian Plantain, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. It typically grows to 5-7 feet tall and can be found in wet meadows, marshes, and along stream banks. The leaves are large and broad, with a slightly wavy edge, and are dark green in color. They are arranged alternately on a vibrant red stem and have a hairy texture on the upper surface and a smooth texture on the lower surface.
The flowers of Arnoglossum atriplicifolium are small and yellow-green in color. They are arranged in large, flattened clusters at the top of the stem and are typically arranged in a panicle inflorescence blooming from July to September.
It can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but prefers soils that are rich in organic matter and have a neutral pH. It can grow in heavy clay soils, sandy soils, and also in loamy soils. It is tolerant of seasonal flooding and can be found in areas with a high water table. The plant can tolerate heat and drought, but it prefers moist soil.
Arnoglossum atriplicifolium typically prefers partial shade to full sun conditions. It can tolerate low light conditions and can be found in wooded areas with filtered sunlight. However, it will grow and bloom better in an area with more sun exposure.
